Gratitude

Ann Carroll photoGratitude. A beautiful day like today makes it hard to even know where to start on this subject. Savannah and Tybee Island are two of the most beautiful places in the world. It’s like I’m on vacation, but I live here! As I move through my daily activities, I try to make sure that I pay attention to all of the natural beauty around me – and what a wonderful thing to share with our children! A new contributor for this issue, Jami Fussell, puts that so eloquently in her article about Gratefulness Through the Eyes of a Child.

I am also very grateful for my family. As the youngest of four children, I am grateful that my family decided I was a happy surprise! I am grateful for my widely diverse, but always fun, siblings. I can always count on my family. And to my parents – I am so grateful. Always supportive, Mom taught me to be responsible and get things accomplished. My Dad, taught me that the most important thing in life is to be happy. He also taught us all how to have a good time (and we all do!) I am one lucky girl!

My gratitude for each of you, the Moms that are raising our next generation, is overflowing. Thank you for raising your children to be themselves and to contribute their talents to society. And, of course, thank you for embracing Mother Knows Best Magazine. I learn from you ladies every day. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me and with all the readers.

We have a great many ideas included in this issue on teaching gratitude to children. Thanks to all those that contributed these ideas during Candler/ St. Joseph’s Smart Women’s Luncheon, where Mother Knows Best Magazine was a sponsor. I hope it spurs some interest and comments.

One last thing, you’ll notice that this issue is a Winter ’08 – ’09 Issue. As we move into 2009, Mother Knows Best is evolving and changing to be a better fit in today’s world and, so, are moving to a quarterly format. The next Issue, Spring 2009, will be the Green Issue and I hope to hear from you on how you are making this world a little greener and teaching your children about our environment. We want to hear from you. Please log onto our website and share your ideas!

With Much Gratitude

~ Ann
